The written report

Lake Buchanan

A Lake Buchanan fishing report for the week of November 2, 2026 starts with a strong November first trip. Eric S. worked morning topwater and near-surface action for whites and striped bass, found fish surfacing at a third spot, and switched to trolling once the school spread out. Later, on a mid-lake hump where fish were holding tight to the bottom, quick high jigs with a slow drop triggered bites. The take was a good mix of white bass from ten to sixteen inches, plus a few short striped bass, after drifting a flat surrounded by underwater cliffs and heavy timber.

Weekend game plan: Work the surface early for surfacing whites and stripers, then drop to a mid-lake hump and jig tight to the bottom when the surface bite fades.

Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake Texas fishing report, November 2, 2026: this is the week's most detailed pattern. Water temperature was seventy-five degrees on October twenty-ninth. Tyler Stanley of Game On Guide Service, on October twenty-ninth, worked a topwater walking bait — a Heddon Spook — around sunrise and sunset along forty-five-degree windblown banks and deep brush lines in the backs of coves, with a walk, walk, pause cadence and a small popper as an easier alternative. Once the sun was up, he slowed down: ninety-nine percent of his recent fish came on a dropshot rig, fishing flooded brush lines extremely close to deep water and deep grass and flooded brush near creek channels, working a smaller stretch thoroughly rather than covering miles of bank.

From a kayak angler's perspective the same week, Becca D. found schooling bass shallow in three areas — the Guadalupe River, around boat ramp twenty-three, and from boat ramp one to the dam — with a Ned rig in green pumpkin, worked slowly with pauses, doing the damage in all three spots, plus topwater around the rock ledges near boat ramp one in the morning and at night. Coy W. added a four-point-oh-five-pound largemouth from Canyon Lake on October twenty-eighth.

Weekend game plan: Start and end the day walking a topwater bait on windblown banks, then slow down with a dropshot or Ned rig in flooded brush near creek channels.

Lake Calaveras

A Calaveras Lake redfish report for San Antonio anglers this week is short and practical. Albert Soto of Kat-Mars Fishing Charter, on October thirty-first, was running an open boat for Sunday, November first at seven-thirty in the morning, chasing catfish and redfish on five-hour trips — and his recent tables held roughly a dozen large catfish per trip. A redfish also showed up on November second, taken on a gold crankbait at Calaveras Lake.

Weekend game plan: If catfish and redfish are the target, fish Calaveras for the numbers — the catfish tables have been full, with redfish in the mix.

Granger Lake

Quiet week on Granger in our feeds.

Weekend game plan: Keep Granger on the list for a quiet-water crappie morning, but go in without a fresh pattern from this week's posts.

Lake Travis

A Lake Travis fishing report for the week of November 2, 2026 is a bass story with a clear depth progression. On October thirty-first, a Travis report logged a dozen bass: with clear skies and no wind, fish came from ten to fifteen feet on a shakey head jig with a green pumpkin and pearl Big Bite worm; when the wind picked up, a white spinnerbait in the brush produced; and as the sun set, fish moved back shallow for a weedless wacky jig with a pumpkin magic finesse worm and topwater with a Sixth Sense CatWalk. On Sunday, November first, another Travis outing from Briarcliff to the Pedernales managed ten fish, with topwater still the best bet, plus spinnerbait on windy banks and a shakey head — on a weekend when there seemed to be a boat on every point, cove, and creek.

Weekend game plan: Fish topwater first, drop to ten to fifteen feet with a shakey head when it calms, and finish shallow at sunset on a wacky jig or topwater.

Belton Lake

Belton Lake fishing report, November 2, 2026: the week's biggest numbers came from here. Bob Maindelle of Holding the Line Guide Service, on October twenty-ninth, put one hundred twenty-eight fish in the boat on Lake Belton — one hundred nineteen white bass, five hybrid striped bass, and four largemouth bass — starting in about twenty feet of water and following the fish deeper to fifty-four feet, working a MAL Dense lure vertically with a smoking tactic and Garmin LiveScope. White bass are holding on the bottom in deeper water as fall fishing hits its stride. Gary H. managed one decent hybrid at Belton on October twenty-sixth.

Weekend game plan: Find white bass on the bottom in deeper water and work a lure vertically — start around twenty feet and follow the school deeper.

Lake Whitney

Quiet week on Whitney in our feeds.

Weekend game plan: Keep Whitney as a backup striper and white bass option, but go in without a fresh pattern from this week's posts.

Overall summary

Best bets this weekend: Belton Lake white bass deep on a vertical presentation, Canyon Lake bass shallow on a Ned rig and topwater, and Lake Buchanan whites and stripers on a mid-lake hump. Lake Travis bass are a solid topwater-first option, and Calaveras catfish tables have been full.

Weekend weather for Central Texas: Friday, November sixth, partly cloudy with a high near seventy-five degrees and wind from the north at eight miles an hour. Saturday, November seventh, a few showers possible with a high near seventy-one degrees and wind from the north-northeast at six miles an hour. Sunday, November eighth, partly cloudy with a high near seventy-one degrees and wind from the north at eight miles an hour. Wind stays a factor — it will put a chop on open water — but it stays well below hold-off territory all three days, so all seven lakes are fishable; Saturday is simply the day to pack rain gear.
